As the date for Jess Glynne and Ladies Day at Wolverhampton Racecourse fast approaches, we reflect back to International Women’s Day in March when one lucky networker won tickets to attend.
Back in a far cooler March, two of the Arena Racing Company team attended a Forward Ladies networking event in Birmingham city centre, armed with a competition and some Jess Glynne tickets for prizes, courtesy of Wolverhampton Racecourse.
Forward Ladies
Forward Ladies runs across the country, but this was the first one to happen in Birmingham, and what better day to host the first Midlands meeting than on International Women’s Day? A day that celebrates “the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women’, and has done for over 100 years.
Themes that are reflected in the Forward Ladies mantra, which looks to “create a global platform that connects women to opportunities, networks, businesses and expertise that empower them”.
Led by Sarah Potter - Regional Director (Midlands), the Birmingham meeting was a well attended, informative and inspirational session filled with successful businesswomen from the Midlands. These monthly meetings have since thrived into a busy networking session, with meaningful and motivational speakers. August sees the important topic of women's well being and you can attend on the 16th by buying tickets online.
Jess Glynne Win
As part of the registration for the first Birmingham meeting, delegates were entered into a prize draw to win tickets to see Jess Glynne live at Wolverhampton.
The lucky winner was Diana, who is the director and one of the founders of Wright Solutions, a specialist HR consultancy. They provide recruitment, selection, training and coaching services via a small team of experts. I was able to catch up with her after the networking event to find out more about Diana and her company.
What is it your company does, and your role within that company?
Our recruitment specialists attract and place high calibre candidates into permanent and interim HR and Learning & Development roles, while our resident development experts helps you to build a better workplace through inclusion, leadership & teamwork and improved sales performance. My role is very hands-on in the business and I love supporting my clients with their recruitment challenges.
What inspired you to go to the ladies networking event?
I enjoy meeting like-minded professional women and was excited to see a new Midlands based networking group. I had heard of Forward Ladies before and knew they had a good reputation. I have not been disappointed, the events keep getting better and I look forward to the ongoing success and growth of the group.
What did you take away from the day?
I met some strong women who have achieved great success, many of whom have overcome personal struggles and challenges. It made me proud to be a Woman in Business today.
Any wise words you would like to share with other ladies in honour of International Women's Day?
The theme for this year's International Women's Day was "Better for Balance" which really resonates with me as in my role I have the opportunity to influence and challenge businesses to support a more balanced and flexible/agile approach to working.
Are you excited for Jess Glynne?
Absolutely, can't wait. I have enjoyed watching her career grow especially as she has followed her own path rather than the X-Factor option. Her last song "Thursday" is a great example of how she is a role model for young people today. One particular line that we should live by is "Who I am is enough".
What are you most looking forward to about the event?
Quality time with my family
Want Jess Glynne Tickets?
Not everyone is lucky enough to win tickets, but you can still purchase tickets for Jess Glynne online today or by calling the Wolverhampton team on 01902 390007.
Last year we had thousands of people join us for an exciting Ladies Day, before dancing the night away to Kaiser Chiefs, and we look forward to creating that same electric atmosphere as last year.
